Union

In writing the US Constitution, the authors aspired to create a "more perfect union." At the time of the writing, those words helped develop better cooperation, communication, and cooperation between the original 13 states. The notion of "a more perfect union" expanded as new states were formed, and new people came to find new life in the USA. Our union has undoubtedly grown.

But what about perfecting that union? This has been an on-going process. As a country and as a people, we seek to eliminate the injustices in our world. New challenges arise, and as a result, we continue to strive to find perfection in our union. This process continues to propel us to remember our nation's founding principles.

As Christ-followers, we are called to a continuing process of perfecting our lives as we seek to live and grow in our faith. Many times, our actions and beliefs do not align with society, and that is okay. We are a people of love and grace. We are a people known for not conforming to the way of the world. Instead, we seek to live into our faith. Our desire to not conform to worldly standards led many people to pursue life and freedom in the land of the free, the United States.

So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
