After the 11:00 and 11:11 am worship services on this Sunday, all children, their families, and anyone who wants to experience the excitement are invited to join us on the lawn outside the Chapel and Sanctuary for this Palm Sunday and Easter Celebration. There will be an Egg Hunt and lunch on the lawn.
In this Holy Week worship service we will gather with Jesus and the Disciples around the table. Bread will be broken. Wine will be poured out. And, we will remember that night in the Upper Room as we celebrate Holy Communion. This service will take place at 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary.
Join Rev. Chris Mesa at 5:00 pm in the chapel on Good Friday for a teaching and worship experience for children and families. This will be a 30-minute service to help children understand, "What is GOOD about Good Friday?"
Between Good Friday and Easter Sunday is Saturday, a day of darkness, uncertainty, and yet, still the slightest bit of hope. In this early church this would be the night that all new persons to the faith, who after a time of learning and discernment throughout the season of Lent, would be Baptized, and welcomed into the church as full members.
Join us for this service at 7:00 pm in the Chapel. We will remember our baptism. We will tell the story of our God from the beginning. We will gather at the table. And, we will walk away filled with light and life, knowing that the tomb is close to being empty.
On Tuesday, May 15 Arborlawn is delighted to host Lutheran author, pastor, and speaker, Nadia Bolz-Weber.

Lots of women appear in the New Testament. Some are named individuals (Syntyche, Lois, Mary Magdalene); others are not. Some are celebrated disciples (the Samaritan woman), apostles (Junia), deacons, and ministers (Phoebe)--vocal proponents of our faith. Others teach wisdom by example through their actions. We hear about individual women but also groups of women, like the widows of 1 Timothy or the female Corinthian prophets. While most of the women are real, some are figurative (Lady Wisdom; Daughter Zion, the woman clothed with the sun; the whore of Babylon).
How might we encounter Jesus by spending time with some of these characters? What word might they have for ourselves and for our communities? Come renew your acquaintance with or meet these women for the first time! Presented by New Testament Scholar, author, speaker, Rev. Dr. Jaime Clark-Soles, Perkins School of Theology, Professor of New Testament.
