Covenant | 10:00-10:45 am | Room 160
When you really dig into the Bible, does it ever strike you that there are as many questions in it as there are answers? If so, and you’re looking for a change of pace for Sunday School, the Covenant Class may be a place to continue your faith journey. We not only enjoy puzzling over the parables, we strive to set aside our 21st Century lenses to understand the crucial messages offered in the 1st Century. The class typically mixes lecture and lively discussion. Our study in the coming year, “All in the Family,” will delve beneath the surface of familiar Bible passages about family relationships to uncover layers of meaning that are often overlooked. In fact, the buried “layers” often contradict common superficial readings. Topics will range from what the Old Testament says about who belongs in the “family of God,” to the New Testament’s controversial descriptions of the “ideal” family. Curious? Come visit. Our study opens in October, but you can catch up or keep up by reading the weekly notes via the link below.
