Arborlawn Children’s Ministry

It is our goal that each child knows and experiences God through the loving message of Jesus and the stories from the Bible. Providing a safe and nurturing environment for all of our children, from infants to 5th grade, is of utmost importance.

The ultimate goal is for all of our children to know that they are children of God.

To the Parents and Families of the Arborlawn Children’s Center 3-19-2008

We regret to inform you that the Arborlawn Children’s Center will suspend operations effective June 6th 2008. Construction of a new sanctuary and additional education space for the church is set to begin this summer prompting concerns for the safety and well being of the children. The development of the northwest end of the campus will directly affect the area immediately surrounding the Children’s Center and the presence of heavy machinery and construction crews poses a disruptive and potentially dangerous challenge for the children and staff during the 18-24 month construction phase.

The decision to suspend operations was announced by the Leadership Council of Arborlawn after exploring numerous options. The decision is particularly difficult in light of the strong legacy of loving care provided by the Center over the past twenty years to the children and families of our community. We recognize and deeply appreciate Gretchen, the teachers and staff of the Children’s Center for their outstanding leadership and invaluable work with our children.

As Director, Gretchen Dills has done a remarkable job in leading, managing and developing the Center making this an even more difficult decision. The decision to suspend operations is based solely on concerns for the safety of the children. Once the construction phase is completed we will again explore various options in regard to preschool and childcare ministries.

Our intent in making the announcement now is to assist families and staff in formulating alternative plans for the summer and fall. This is a painful and difficult decision and we are particularly sensitive to the needs of our teachers, families and children. On Monday additional information on local centers and other childcare options will be made available to assist you in providing a safe and positive environment for your child this summer.

Our primary concern is for the safety of the children. We apologize for the inconvenience and disruption caused by the construction phase and will continue to work with you to ensure that every child has a safe, secure and loving environment beyond June 6th. We will follow up with information regarding the refunding of security deposits and registration fees. Again, thank you for the privilege and honor of allowing us to provide a loving and caring place for your child. Sincerely,

Rev. Ben Disney
